The Capitol is honored to exhibit Prime, the work of local artist Renee King, for the month of February!

Prime, by Bowling Green native Renee King, is an art exhibit for those who obsess over the past — for those who look back and only feel regret. Touching on themes of objectification, grief, and loneliness, it recognizes that despair is an unavoidable part of life, yet, ultimately, a tool to forge a better future.

Renee uses painting as a tool to reflect upon her past, while drawing inspiration from dreams, mythology, and folklore. In a world of increased artistic censorship and oppression, she makes it her goal to not shy away from intense or uncomfortable messages. Creative expression is what keeps people not just living, but alive – a fact of life she hopes to inspire in others. “My paintings hold my secrets,” says Renee, “so sharing them feels like I am getting something off my chest. Thank you, viewer, for being my confidant.”

Renee will be hosting a public art reception at the Capitol on Sunday, February 1! Come by then, or anytime during the month of February, to view her magnificent work!
