This WKU PBS Documentary explores the realities and costs of urban renewal through the story of Jonesville, a community founded by African American Civil War veterans near Bowling Green, KY. Jonesville was seized and dismantled in the 1960s to make way for the expansion of Western Kentucky University. WKU PBS and the Kentucky Folklife Program partnered with Jonesville residents and descendants to tell this story and ensure their voices and experiences are heard.
After the film, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Barbara Deeb, with esteemed guests Alice Gatewood Waddell, Akisa Townsend Eaton, Gary Ransdell, Davarian Baldwin, and David Horace Greer.
