As a lover of place and people, Lexie Erskine has created a body of work that combines nature from her rural places with the hardworking women in her life. Struggling with societal conventions of femininity growing up, she leaned into the relationships with women in her life to make sense of her own feminine nature. The moss in each of these pieces, like a mycelium network, connects Lexie to these women– and herself- through themes of grief, resilience, compassion, creativity, and care. “A Feminine Nature” invites you to reflect upon how relationships with others impact how you make sense of yourself in the world. Come celebrate the exhibit at the Capitol!
